OpenText Integration Center is a unique middleware platform for provisioning the flow of content across applications and repositories.
Middleware connects software components, applications or systems. Used to support complex distributed environments, it has traditionally included web servers, application server or an enterprise service bus, and leverages XML, SOAP, Web services and service-oriented architecture.
OpenText Integration Center is the first content middleware platform, providing all the traditional capabilities with built-in capabilities of dealing with unstructured and semi-structured content.
The Platform
Dealing with content, and the provisioning of content and metadata, between repositories and systems is a unique challenge. Metadata may be within the content of a Word document, as a property element of a PowerPoint presentation, or the modified date on a file share. Understanding how content works, what metadata means in different contexts, and how to guarantee delivery and actioning of content between systems is a unique challenge which OpenText Integration Center has been designed to meet.
Content can exist in any number of repositories, and in many forms. Word documents in file shares, PowerPoint in FileNet P8, or Excel in OpenText Content Server. OpenText Integration Center, acting as a content middleware platform, enables content and metadata to flow between applications and systems as needed by business operations.
The Value
The value of the OpenText content middleware platform is measured differently for every organization, but is always based on the outcome of better visibility into, and management of, content assets. For some organizations, it's through reducing compliance risk by leveraging the platform to enable in-place management on file shares. For other organizations, it's through the decommissioning of a legacy ECM repository. And for others, it's through the ability to deliver business critical content into real-time dashboards for immediate actioning.
