The FPF2164 is a load switch designed to provide full protection for systems and loads that may experience high current conditions. It features a P-channel MOSFET with a current limit adjustable between 0.15 A and 1.5 A, operating within an input voltage range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V. The device includes thermal shutdown protection to prevent damage from excessive heating during continuous over-current situations. In the event of a current limit being reached, the FPF2164 operates in a constant-current mode. If the over-current condition persists for more than 30 ms, the switch will turn off and pull the fault signal pin (FLAGB) low. Unlike the FPF2163, the FPF2164 does not have an auto-restart feature, requiring the ON pin to be cycled to reset the switch. The device also incorporates undervoltage lockout, fast current limit response times, and reverse current blocking capabilities. The FPF2164 is housed in a compact 6-pin 2x2 MLP package, making it suitable for applications in portable devices such as PDAs, cell phones, GPS devices, MP3 players, digital cameras, and peripheral ports. It is RoHS compliant and Pb-free, ensuring it meets environmental standards.
