The 74ACT1284MSA is an IEEE 1284 Transceiver designed for bi-directional parallel communication between personal computers and printing peripherals. It features four non-inverting bidirectional buffers and three non-inverting buffers with open-drain outputs, providing a high drive capability of 14 mA on the B Ports. The device supports both Level 1 and Level 2 signaling standards, making it suitable for Extended Capabilities Port (ECP) mode. The transceiver includes a High Drive (HD) input pin that allows the B Ports to switch from open-drain to high drive totem pole output. The direction of data flow is controlled by the DIR input, which can be set to enable data flow from A Ports to B Ports or vice versa. The device is TTL-compatible and guarantees a minimum of 4000V ESD protection. The 74ACT1284MSA operates within a supply voltage range of 4.7V to 5.5V and is rated for an operating temperature range of -40¬8C to +85¬8C.
