M324 UAS (Unmanned Aerial System)
M324 UAS (Unmanned Aerial System)
Program Overview The Model 324 UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) is an autonomous, long range reconnaissance unmanned aerial system providing electro-optical and infrared imagery. It is a jet-propelled tactical reconnaissance UAS designed to Egyptian Air Force requirements. It was produced from 1984 to 1993 and was first flown in 1988. A total of 56 were produced and delivered and approximately 50 remain flight worthy. The Model 324 has low mid-body mounted swept wings, a twin-fin tail, and a rear-mounted Teledyne CAE 373-8C turbojet engine with the intake on the rear spine of the UAS. It is ground launchable only with a modified harpoon rocket motor, and configured for either the 500 IRLS (Honeywell/LIRIS) or the KS-153A 24-inch FL photo camera (recon optical), both wet film technology systems. Additionally, the Model 324 is recoverable by parachute and landing bags, deployable and operable by a three-man crew, and transportable in a C-130 aircraft.
