The NB679 is a synchronous buck converter designed for high efficiency and compact applications. It operates over a wide input voltage range of 5.5 V to 28 V and provides a fixed output voltage of 5 V with a continuous output current capability of 8 A and a peak output current of 10 A. The device features a low quiescent current of 100 OºA and operates at a switching frequency of 700 kHz, which aids in achieving fast transient response through its adaptive constant-on-time control. This converter includes a built-in 5 V, 100 mA low dropout regulator (LDO) for powering external peripherals and incorporates comprehensive protection features such as overcurrent protection (OCP), overvoltage protection (OVP), undervoltage protection (UVP), and thermal shutdown. The NB679 is packaged in a compact QFN-12 (2mm x 3mm) format, making it suitable for space-constrained applications like laptops, tablets, networking systems, and personal video recorders. It is compliant with RoHS standards and is designed to be stable with both POSCAP and ceramic output capacitors.
