The MIC2177-3.3BWM-TR is a synchronous buck switching regulator designed for high-efficiency applications, capable of delivering up to 2.5A output current. It operates within an input voltage range of 4.5V to 16.5V and features a dual mode operation that optimizes efficiency: PWM mode for loads above 200 mA and skip mode for lighter loads. The device includes internal power MOSFETs with a low on-resistance of 100 mOc at a 12V input, ensuring minimal power loss. This regulator has a preset switching frequency of 200 kHz, which can be synchronized to an external clock of up to 300 kHz. It incorporates current-mode control for improved line regulation and simplified loop compensation, along with essential protection features such as thermal shutdown, current limiting, and undervoltage lockout. The quiescent current is low, at 1.0 mA in PWM mode and 500 OºA in skip mode, dropping to less than 5 OºA in shutdown mode. The MIC2177-3.3BWM-TR is housed in a 20-pin wide SOIC package and operates over a temperature range of -40¬8C to +85¬8C, making it suitable for various battery-powered and portable applications.
