The HCS500-I/P is a code hopping decoder designed for secure Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) systems. It operates within a voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V and features an internal oscillator along with automatic bit rate detection, allowing it to adapt to varying transmitter data rates. The device supports encrypted storage of manufacturer codes and cryptographic keys, enhancing security for applications such as automotive remote entry, alarms, and electronic locks. This decoder can learn up to seven transmitters and utilizes KEELOQ code hopping technology, which ensures that the transmitted codes appear to change unpredictably, providing an additional layer of security. The HCS500 can function as a stand-alone decoder or in conjunction with a microcontroller, and it communicates with a host controller via a synchronous serial interface. It includes a 1 Kbit user EEPROM for additional data storage and is available in an 8-pin PDIP/SOIJ package, making it suitable for various compact applications.
