The CAP1296 is a 6-channel capacitive touch sensor controller designed for touch sensor applications. It features programmable sensitivity and automatic recalibration to account for environmental changes and system parasitic capacitance. Each of the six sensor inputs can be individually configured with specific thresholds. The device supports proximity detection on one or more channels and includes a signal guard to minimize noise sensitivity and prevent interference from nearby conductive surfaces. The CAP1296 allows for multiple button pattern detection, enabling the simultaneous activation of specific button combinations. It operates in Active, Standby, and Deep Sleep states, with power consumption varying based on the number of active sensor inputs. In Deep Sleep mode, it consumes a typical current of 5µA. The device is compatible with 3.3V or 5V supply voltages and communicates via SMBus or I2C interfaces. It is housed in a 10-pin DFN package and is RoHS compliant, making it suitable for various applications, including desktop and notebook PCs, LCD monitors, consumer electronics, and appliances.
