The Microchip AT42QT1244 is a Capacitive Touch Controller IC that can manage up to 24 touch pads/keys. The sensitivity of each key/pad can be customised using simple commands over the I2C interface. Through the use of Microchip’s QMatrix technology the AT42QT1244 minimises the PCB space needed for multi-key capacitive touch applications. A sensing algorithm allows there to be more keys/pads on a design than sensing pins on the IC itself. Component count is reduced as the AT42QT1244 provides all the necessary signal processing capability.
