The combination of IC with an electrospray ionization mass spectrometer (ESI-MS) or with an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) solves even complex separation problems with maximum measurement sensitivity. This coupling technology enables unambiguous identification of peaks and is at the same time less susceptible to disruptive matrix effects than ion chromatography with conductivity measurement.
