The Mechanical Joint (MJ) gasket is designed to be used in Ductile iron mechanical joint pipe and fittings. MJ gaskets are typically supplied as Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) and can be used for water and domestic sewage service. MJ gaskets made from SBR are used for air or liquid temperatures up to 150°F. Other gasket materials are also available depending on the service application, see Specialty Gasket Usage. McWane Plant & Industrial, however, does not typically supply MJ gaskets or accessories with our pipe. We suggest contacting a local distributor for these products.
