The XRT91L80IB-F is a fully integrated SONET/SDH transceiver designed for OC-48/STM-16 applications, capable of operating at data rates of 2.488 Gbps and 2.666 Gbps with Forward Error Correction (FEC). It features a Clock Multiplier Unit (CMU) that generates a high-speed transmit clock from a slower external reference, along with Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) functions to synchronize with incoming data streams. The device includes serial-to-parallel and parallel-to-serial converters, and supports 4-bit LVDS signaling at rates of 622.08/666.51 Mbps, compliant with OIF SFI-4 standards. The transceiver incorporates a 4x9 Elastic Buffer (FIFO) to manage phase differences between the transmitter clock input and the internal reference clock, with an internal control circuit to indicate overflow conditions. It offers various diagnostic features, including lock detection for both the CMU and CDR, and supports multiple loopback modes for testing. The device operates on a 1.8V CMOS and CML with 3.3V I/O, with a typical power dissipation of 490mW.
