SupremEX™ S-225F is a non-beryllium metal matrix composite that consists of silicon carbide at 25% volume fraction in a 2124 aluminum matrix, and has a closely matched coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) to that of AlBeMet® over the standard tactical temperature range (-50 - 50 oC). This new Materion Brush Beryllium & Composites’ material is a high-performance solution to complex system problems commonly solved with beryllium materials. SupremEX™ S-225F uses pure aluminum and ultrafine reinforcements thereby increasing the pure aluminum's strength and stiffness. To create an athermalized system, components manufactured with SupremEX™ S-225F can e attach to either AlBeMet 162 or beryllium.
