MIDEL eN is a fire safe, natural ester-based dielectric fluid that has been specifically developed to offer a cost effective, safe alternative to traditional fluid and dry-type transformers.
As well as having a high fire point, making it far more fire safe than mineral oil, MIDEL eN is also manufactured using renewable materials which provide a lower carbon footprint solution than mineral oil. In addition it is readily biodegradable, meaning that there is much less impact on the environment in the case of a leak or spillage.
MIDEL eN also offers superior moisture tolerance and laboratory testing has demonstrated that it has the potential to increase the lifetime of cellulose based solid insulation used in transformers.
Recently the transformer industry has reported the failure of multiple large units due to the presence of corrosive sulphur. MIDEL eN has been tested by independent laboratories to ASTM D1275 B, Standard Test Method for Corrosive Sulphur in Electrical Insulating Oils and IEC 62535, Insulating liquids - Test method for detection of potentially corrosive sulphur in used and unused insulating oil. It was found to be Non-Corrosive.
MIDEL eN is RoHS compliant; it does not contain the flame retardants PBB and PBDE, nor is it formulated using lead, cadmium, mercury or hexavalent chromium. The concentrations of these heavy metal contents are all below 1ppm.
MIDEL eN is suitable for use in sealed transformers only and is compatible with standard transformer insulating materials and components.
