The system consists of a N (Normal) version according to ISO 1185, generally used for standard applications, and a S (Supplementary) version according to ISO 3731 used for additional connections. The S version can be distinguished by its white coloring and by the different order of the contacts preventing an incorrect connection to the N version. The series of sockets includes special models with 16 rear spade contacts (5 double and 2 triple) in order to split the electrical system of the trailer, avoiding the use of junction boxes. Littelfuse supplies these connectors in both plastic or aluminum body and some versions feature a black anti-oxidating coating.
