Linde North America, Inc. HCFC Refrigerants

Description
HCFC (Hydrochlorofluoroca rbon) refrigerants are the second generation of fluorine based refrigerants, the original replacements for CFCs. These products include R22, R-123, R-401A, R-401B, R-402A, R-402B, R-409A and R-416A. They are categorized to have low ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and high GWP (Global Warming Potential). Therefore these products offer slightly more environmentally friendly alternative than CFCs whilst also often providing customers with a quick and simple 'retrofit' of existing refrigeration equipment. The Linde Group sells a wide range of these products in many geographical locations in a wide range of packages including bulk supply, drum tanks and cylinders. HCFCs contribute both to ozone depletion and global warming, and so are being phased out as part of global legislation including the Montreal Protocol and the Kyoto Protocol. Some countries and regions are operating an accelerated phase out. In the EU, the use of virgin HCFCs was phased out in January 2010. Recycled HCFCs may be used after 2010 until January 2015. Linde supports the transition away from the use of ozone depleting products and is able to offer advice on alternative products such as HFCs and natural refrigerants that have a lower environmental impact.
