Biconvex lenses are a good quality simple form of lens; typically both faces are convex and spherical. UV grade fused silica biconvex lenses are widely used for moderate quality imaging and also for focussing and control of laser beams in UV applications. Generally biconvex lenses have the same radius of curvature on both spherical surfaces.
