Performance Kinematics slew drives are powered with patented hourglass worm technology to give maximum survivability load-holding as well as increased efficiency and accuracy. Unlike standard worms which touch only one tooth, our hourglass worm engages 5-11 teeth on the pitch line of the ring gear from the hourglass thread. This increased tooth engagement gives the gearbox enormous strength and power. Applications Like the ZE slewing drive, the AE slewing drive is a low backlash slewing drive. It is unique in that the backlash is adjustable throughout the diameter of the drive. Careful engineering goes into each and every application using the AE slewing drive due to its complex design. Common applications include solar trackers, specifically Concentrated Photovoltaics(CPV), solar troughs, and heliostats that need to focus on a single point. Other common applications include wind turbines, satellite and radar dishes, as well as robotic arm positioners. Specifications Our base model sizes deliver performance ranges from 38kNm to 72kNm of holding torque, 1,400Nm to 48kNm of output torque, 33kNm to 135kNm of tilting torque, and gearbox reduction ratios of 30:1 up to 156,600:1. It can be horizontally or vertically mounted.
