The lubricator is composed of impact-resistant molded polyacetal plastic and a felt wiper impregnated with lubricant and supported with a spring. It is designed to create a constant film of oil on the rail operating surface without excessive friction.
The use of lubrication vastly extends the system allowable load and life.
