KADANT PETAX™ Fine Filtration System

Fine filtration and high solids removal in a single unit. PETAX operates continuously to filter particles as small as 1 micron. The patented PETAX filter provides economical, single-stage filtration of liquids containing high solids content. PETAX filters are capable of processing up to 1056 gpm (240 m3/hr) of water with suspended solids in the range of 100-2000 ppm. In operation, suspended solids in the filtrate are often less than 20 ppm. This exceptional filtration is achieved without the addition of chemical flocculants, fiber sweetener stock, or precoats. PETAX filters enable the recycling of whitewater for use in showers – even high-pressure showers on the wire or felts. Users have been able to document up to 30% savings in water consumption on the paper machine after the PETAX fine filtration system is installed. In addition to the reduction in freshwater consumption, the reduction of fines in circulation can result in a decrease of COD from the paper machine of up to 40%.
