Heavy Duty Butt Hinge, Steel, 8" x 8", Ball Bearing Heavy duty butt hinge (8 inches by 8 inches) made for heavy doors and gates. Hinge is designed to be installed as a full mortise hinge. Hinge measures 8 inches tall by 8 inches wide in the open position (as shown in photo). Made from extra thick steel material. Thickness of steel is 0.200". Hinge features 4 ball bearings (maintenance free bearings). Each hinges uses 16 each #14 wood screws (included). Hinge is capable of holding up to an 800lb. door (depending on width of door and number of hinges used, see info below). Hinge fits door thicknesses of 2-1/4" to 3". Weight Rating for Hinge For door width up to 3 feet: 800 lbs. For door width 3 feet to 3.5 feet: 670 lbs. For door width 3.5 feet to 4 feet: 600 lbs. Number of Hinges per Door Up to 5 feet high, use 2 hinges From 5 feet high to 7.5 feet high, use 3 hinges From 7.5 feet high to 10 feet high, use 4 hinges From 10 feet high to 12.5 feet high, use 5 hinges From 12.5 feet high to 15 feet high, use 6 hinges PLEASE NOTE: weight ratings given are a general guide for doors used in residential (low frequency) use under normal situations.
