Gilson offers Cox Rolling Thin Film Ovens for thin film and loss on heating tests. The Rolling Thin Film Oven (RTFO) simulates short-term aging of asphalt binders that occurs during mixing and lay-down of hot-mix asphalt.
Ovens include a flow meter, moisture indicator, and air pressure gauge with regulator, ready for connection to a dry air supply. The circular test rack holds up to eight RTFO Bottles (included) and rotates at 15rpm. A digital temperature controller, solid state heater and 200 Watt heating element control temperature to ±1°F at 325°F (±0.5°C at 163°C). Double wall design has a baked enameled steel exterior. The door has a large window to observe operation. An over-temperature protector is built-in. Order MA-223C ASTM 13C Thermometer separately. Air supply not exceeding 125psi is required. The stainless steel Cooling Rack, designed to ASTM requirements, holds nine specimen bottles. Extra RTFO bottles are serial numbered for tracking and feature a special lip inside the opening rim to help contain samples. The RTFO bottle scraper is shaped to fit the bottle open end and remove the interior film sample. Hot bottles are easily retrieved from the oven using special stainless steel tongs with synthetic gripper pads for handling hot materials.
