Background:
CD2 is a 50 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the I-type lectin family. It is expressed on all thymocytes, T cells and NK cells. CD2 enhances T cell antigen recognition via interaction with its ligands (LFA-3/CD58, CD59 and CD48), which leads to improved adhesion between T cells and antigenpresenting cells.
