Description This product actually converts rust to a permanent, paintable surface. RUSTOP chemically reacts with the existing rust and creates a brand new, permanent surface that prevents further rusting Surface can then be painted or left as is. With RUSTOP, it is not necessary to remove the existing rust as the rust is necessary to set up the chemical reaction. The resulting black surface is weatherproof and permanent. The use of this product completely eliminates the expensive and time consuming process of scraping, scrubbing or otherwise removing the rust and eliminates the need to prime or phosphatize the surface. Benefits Saves time Ready to use Easy to apply Minimum surface preparation Applications Use RUSTOP undiluted to convert rust to a permanent, paintable surface. Prior to use, remove loose rust, scale, grease and oil. Use a wire brush if necessary, but DO NOT brush down to the bare metal — remember, some rust is required to activate RUSTOP. This material may be brushed, rolled or sprayed on the surface. After application, the first coat will dry in 1 hour, leaving a shiny black paintable surface. A second coat will extend and enhance the surface protection. Allow 24 hours cure time before painting with latex paint and at least 48 hours before painting with lacquer or enamel.
