Assemblies with sanitary connections are commonly used in the food and dairy industries. These fittings are welded to the stainless steel sheath and polished to meet 3-A Sanitary Council Standards. The highly polished finish prevents the growth of bacteria or other corrosive accumulation that might otherwise develop on standard assembly connections. There are various sizes and styles of the fittings available from a various manufacturers. Care must be taken to insure that the correct fitting is specified. In addition to the sanitary fittings, typical assemblies are equipped with a FDA compliant thermoplastic head, which is gasketed and suitable for wash down applications.
