DIODES Incorporated Motor Drivers, Controllers AH285-YL-13

The AH285-YL-13 is a single-chip motor driver designed for two-coil brushless DC (BLDC) fans and motors. It operates within a voltage range of 3.8V to 20V and integrates a Hall-effect sensor along with a built-in input amplifier. The device features two complementary open-drain output drivers that include internal Zener diode protection, ensuring reliable operation. Key functionalities include a tachometer output for monitoring motor speed and rotor lock protection, which automatically shuts down the output drivers if rotor lock is detected, with an automatic restart feature once the lock is removed. The AH285 can handle an average output current of up to 500mA and is packaged in a compact SOT89-5 form factor. Additionally, it is compliant with RoHS standards, being lead-free and free from halogens and antimony. This product is suitable for applications involving low to medium voltage, low power BLDC motors and cooling fans. However, it is noted that this part is not recommended for new designs, with a suggestion to consider the AH2985 as an alternative.
