KSW4-R1 is a precision-grade steel worm gear with a 1 mm normal module, 3°42' left-hand helix angle, and a standard full-depth tooth profile at 14°30' pressure angle. Made from S45C steel with W1 heat treatment and a tooth hardness below 194 HB, it features a plain bore of 22 mm, a pitch diameter of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 62 mm, a face width of 70 mm, and a total length of 95 mm. It weighs 1.76 kg and is designed for use with matching bronze or gray iron worm wheels, producing axial thrust forces during operation.
Module 4, 1 Start Mild Steel Right Handed Worm with Plain Bore
A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
