The KPG2-20R1 is a right-hand lead plastic worm gear with a module of 2, 20 teeth, and 1 start, designed for use with stainless steel worms. It features a finished bore of 10 mm, a pitch diameter of 40.08 mm, an outside diameter of 44 mm, a face width of 22 mm, and a total length of 35 mm. The gear is made of MC901 nylon, has a normal pressure angle of 14° 30', and a helix angle of 3° 42'. It has an allowable bending torque of 4.78 N·m, a backlash range of 0 to 0.33 mm, and weighs 0.046 kg. The gear is profile shifted to ensure proper center distance with mating worms.

A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
