The gear has a 21°30′ helix angle, 20° transverse pressure angle, and is made of SCM440 steel with induction-hardened teeth. It has an allowable torque of 11.6 N·m (26.1 kgf·m) for bending strength and 11.6 N·m (26.1 kgf·m) for surface durability, with theoretical backlash of 0.12-0.20 mm. It meets JIS grade N6 (JIS B1702-1:1998) and JIS grade 2 (JIS B1702:1976) precision standards. Axial thrust forces are produced during operation.

Helical gears are comparable to spur gears, but due to the higher contact ratio, they are quieter, vibrate less, and experience less friction. Helical gear pairs have the same helix angle but opposite threads (left-hand and right-hand).
