Module 1 ground helical gear with 100 teeth, right-hand helix, and a 50 mm bore, made from SCM440 steel with induction-hardened tooth surfaces ranging from 50 to 60 HRC, conforming to JIS grade N6 (JIS B1702-1:1998) and JIS grade 2 (JIS B1702:1976), with a 21°30' helix angle, 20° transverse pressure angle, and standard full-depth teeth. The gear has a pitch diameter of 100 mm, outside diameter of 102 mm, face width of 8 mm, hub width of 10 mm, and total length of 18 mm, with an allowable torque of 50.4 N·m (5.14 kgf·m) based on bending strength and 142 N·m based on surface durability, and a nominal backlash of 0.10~0.18 mm. Axial thrust forces are generated in operation. Secondary operations on the teeth are prohibited due to induction hardening.

Helical gears are comparable to spur gears, but due to the higher contact ratio, they are quieter, vibrate less, and experience less friction. Helical gear pairs have the same helix angle but opposite threads (left-hand and right-hand).
