KCG4-50R1 is a right-hand lead, metric worm gear with a module of 4, 50 teeth, one start, and a 3°42' helix angle. It is made of gray iron (FC200) with a standard full-depth tooth profile and a 14°30' normal pressure angle. The gear has a 20 mm bore, 70 mm hub diameter, 200.42 mm pitch diameter, 208 mm outside diameter, and 35 mm face width. It weighs 4.78 kg and has a hub width of 17 mm and total length of 52 mm. The allowable torque at 30 rpm is 249 N·m, decreasing to 137 N·m at 900 rpm. Backlash ranges from 0.17 to 0.37 mm. The gear is profile shifted for proper center distance and has elongated casting holes in the web.
Module 4, 50 Tooth, 1 Start, Right Handed Cast Iron Worm Gear with Plain Bore
A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
