KCG4-30R2 is a right-hand lead, 2-start, 30-tooth worm gear with a normal module of 4, precision grade KHK W 002 grade 4, and a standard full-depth tooth profile at a 14°30' pressure angle. It is made of FC200 gray iron with no heat treatment, has a bore diameter of 20 mm, a pitch diameter of 120.67 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm, and a face width of 35 mm. The hub width is 17 mm, total length is 52 mm, and web thickness is 12 mm with a web outer diameter of 96 mm. The product has a backlash range of 0.17 to 0.37 mm and weighs 2.52 kg. Allowable torques at 30 rpm, 100 rpm, 300 rpm, and 600 rpm are 96.8 N·m, 78.3 N·m, 59.4 N·m, and 47.3 N·m respectively. Mounting distance is 91 mm. The gear is profile shifted to achieve proper center distance.

A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
