The KCG2-40R1J12 is a right-hand lead, single-start, module 2 gray iron worm gear with a 12 mm bore, 40 teeth, and a 55.5 mm mounting distance. It has a 40.17 mm pitch diameter, 84 mm throat diameter, 86 mm outside diameter, and 22 mm face width. The gear operates with a 3°42' helix angle and a 0.10~0.28 mm backlash. The allowable torque at 300 rpm is 18.1 N·m, and it weighs 0.96 kg. The precision grade is KHK W 002 grade 4, and it uses standard full-depth teeth with a 14°30' normal pressure angle. The J-series variant is available on request and includes a keyway conforming to JIS B1301 with Js9 tolerance.
Module 2, 40 Tooth, 1 Start, Right Handed Cast Iron Worm Gear with 12mm Finished Bore
A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
