The KCG1-120R1 is a right-hand lead, 1-start, cast iron worm gear with 120 teeth and module 1, designed for use with matching steel worms. It has a 40 mm bore, 120.24 mm pitch diameter, 122 mm throat diameter, 123 mm outside diameter, 10 mm face width, 10 mm hub width, 20 mm total length, 6 mm web thickness, 111 mm web outer diameter, and 68 mm mounting distance. Allowable torque ranges from 30.5 N·m at 30 rpm to 16.7 N·m at 1200 rpm, with backlash between 0.06 mm and 0.24 mm. The gear weighs 0.63 kg, follows KHK W 002 grade 4 precision, uses FC200 gray iron material, and has a 20° normal pressure angle. No set screw is included.

A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
