KAG3-20R2 is a right-hand helical worm gear with module 3, 20 teeth, and 2 starts, designed for use with matching worms. It has a plain bore of 20 mm, a pitch diameter of 60 mm, a throat diameter of 66 mm, an outside diameter of 69 mm, and a face width of 25 mm. The gear is made from CAC702 aluminum bronze with no heat treatment, and features a standard full-depth tooth profile at a 20° normal pressure angle. The precision grade is KHK W 002 grade 2. Backlash ranges from 0.16 to 0.29 mm, and the weight is 0.75 kg. It supports allowable torques up to 46.9 N·m at 100 rpm under defined conditions.

A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
