KAG2.5-30R2 is a right-hand lead worm gear with a module of 2.5, 30 teeth, and 2 starts, made from CAC702 aluminum bronze with a standard full-depth tooth profile and 20° normal pressure angle. It has a bore diameter of 12 mm, hub diameter of 40 mm, pitch diameter of 75 mm, throat diameter of 80 mm, outside diameter of 82.5 mm, face width of 20 mm, hub width of 14 mm, total length of 34 mm, and a web thickness of 14 mm. The gear has a mounting distance of 56 mm, allowable torque values of 72.7 N·m at 30 rpm and 25.3 N·m at 1800 rpm, and a backlash range of 0.14 to 0.27 mm. Its weight is 0.79 kg. Precision grade is KHK W 002 grade 2, with no heat treatment applied to the teeth.

A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
