KAG2-40R1 is a right-hand lead worm gear with a module of 2, 40 teeth, and one start, designed for use with matching worms. It has a 12 mm bore, 45 mm hub diameter, 80 mm pitch diameter, 84 mm throat diameter, 86 mm outside diameter, and 18 mm face width. Constructed from CAC702 aluminum bronze, it features standard full-depth gear teeth with a 20° normal pressure angle and precision grade KHK W 002 grade 2. The gear weighs 0.85 kg and has a hub width of 15 mm and total length of 33 mm. Allowable torque at 300 rpm is 51.4 N·m, with backlash between 0.11 and 0.24 mm.

A worm gear pair, or worm gear set, consists of two gears: the worm, which resembles a spiral screw, and the worm gear (aka, worm wheel).
For the pair to mesh, the worm and worm gear must have the same pressure angles, modules, and lead directions (left- or right-hand).
A worm revolves on a shaft that’s perpendicular to the worm gear and the shaft angle is typically 90°. Because the teeth gradually mesh as the worm rotates, there is low noise and low vibration.
