CSA Group Management of work in confined spaces Z1006-16

Description
Overview Workers in a number of different industries – including manufacturing, mining, construction and emergency services – often perform their jobs while working in confined spaces. It is critically important to identify hazards in these working environments before work begins, in order to help reduce the risk of disabling or fatal injuries. CSA Group has developed Z1006 Management of Work in Confined Spaces to help address this potential threat to worker health and safety. First published in 2010, this second edition of CSA Z1006 specifies requirements for managing all aspects of work in confined spaces including worker participation, change management, identifying & controlling hazards, and emergency situations and threats faced by would-be rescuers. The latest edition includes several critical updates and changes such as improved flow and readability of the document, additional Annexes and elaboration of workspace design & modification. CSA Z1006 is part of our portfolio of OH&S Management Systems Standards, based on the foundation of CSA Z1000 – Occupational Health and Safety Management. Highlights of Z1006 Identifies organizational roles and responsibilities toward management of confined space hazards Outlines requirements for confined space emergency preparedness and rescue Focuses on worker participation in identifying and eliminating confined space hazards Harmonized with CAN/CSA-Z1000, CAN/CSA-Z1001, and CAN/CSA-Z1002 New Annexes on rescue planning, atmospheric testing, monitoring, instrumentation, and ventilation systems Guidance on workplace design and modification Updated and additional flowcharts and tables, and restructuring of content and clauses
