CSA Group Specification for fibre-reinforced polymers S807-10 (R2015)

Description
Preface This is the first edition of CSA S807, Specification on fibre-reinforced polymers. Scope 1.1 This Standard covers the manufacturing process requirements of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars or bars that are part of a grid for use in non-pre stressed internal reinforcement of concrete components of structures (e.g., bridges, buildings, and marine structures). 1.2 This Standard covers FRPs comprised of (a) glass, carbon, or aramid fibres; and (b) isophthalic polyester, vinylester, or epoxy resins. 1.3 This Standard covers FRP bars having nominally circular or square cross-section. 1.4 This Standard does not include FRP bars made of more than one type of fibre. 1.5 In this Standard, FRPs are classified on the basis of their fibres, strength, stiffness, and durability. 1.6 In CSA Standards, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.
