Considered to be quite an upgrade from traditional VGA ports, the DisplayPort interface allows for simple and flexible connections between computers and digital devices (i.e. computer monitors, HDTVs, DVD players, etc.). The DisplayPort interface improves video and audio performance and meets the requirements of recent high definition interfaces, such as HDMI and DVI, with a maximum resolution of 1080p. DisplayPort connections support 1, 2 or 4 data pairs, transfer data at rates from 1.62Gb/s to 2.7Gb/s and feature hot swap and Plug and Play capabilities.
