Boyd Vibration Dampening Open-cell Foam Insulation Densified SOLIMIDE®

Description
Through a proprietary manufacturing process, SOLIMIDE ® polyimide open-cell foam insulation is densified to a desired density and thickness, providing vibration damping with enhanced thermal management for small spaces. Introduced in 2016, the new product is an extension of the existing SOLIMIDE ® product line and is ideal for consumer electronics, medical devices, aerospace avionic and in-flight entertainment systems, industrial small tubing systems, and automotive engine areas. The product continues to maintain its existing characteristics — resistance to fire, non-toxicity, acoustic absorption, low weight, and a long lifespan. Densified SOLIMIDE ® can be further customized through shape molding, the addition of a heat spreading layer, or by laminating conductive materials to it. Before any such customizations, the continuous use operating temperature range is from -200°C to +300°C. Initial applications include controlling touch temperature of a medical wand through heat shielding for patient safety and as a heat shield for the turbo section of an automotive engine. In 2017, Densified SOLIMIDE ® won a Golden Mousetrap Award for product innovation and opportunity for successful customer adoption.
