The MITRAC portfolio embraces a full range of dual- and single-axle bogie drives for low-, medium- and high-power applications designed to meet the needs of any railway operator. When we approach a new assignment, we draw on the years of experience gathered from supplying railroad operators in every corner of the globe with all types of equipment. An optimized design according to the fundamental requirements of available space, axle load and speed result in a highly reliable energy efficient solution with low maintenance effort during the whole lifetime of the product. Nose-suspended drives This robust, uncomplicated design is geared to minimize the service and maintenance needs, generates high tractive output at low speeds, and is ideal for general and heavy-haul freight service. Partly suspended drives This design has a low unsprung mass, which enables high speeds with low track wear. The single reduction gear unit requires a lower upfront investment than any other drives system. Fully suspended drives This sophisticated concept features the lowest unsprung mass and facilitates high speeds and performance combined with low track wear. Permanent Magnet Motor The compact MITRAC Permanent Magnet (PM) Motor system is specifically designed to meet the highest demands on drive systems for traction applications while achieving higher power efficiency than conventional motors: Maximum torque over a wide speed range where the motor is especially competitive at high speed and low voltage, environment variations and stress as well as safety requirements. This has been achieved with a minimum of hardware and software changes to other parts of the propulsion system, and design re-use of the well proven and highly reliable conventional MITRAC motors.
