Single-sheave pulley blocks and wheels are used with cable or rope to lift or pull heavy loads. Flat-block pulleys can be affixed to a wall or ceiling, whereas fixed-eye and swivel-eye pulleys can be attached by sliding the eye over an existing rod, bolt, or shackle.
