ASTM International Standard Test Method for Water Penetration and Leakage Through Masonry ASTM E514/E514M-14

1.1 This laboratory test method2 provides a procedure for determining the resistance to water penetration and leakage through unit masonry subjected to wind-driven rain. 1.2 This test method is not identical to and the results are not the same as the field standard Test Method C1601. 1.3 This test method evaluates the through-wall water penetration which is not the same as surface water penetration evaluated by Test Method C1601. 1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
