1.1 This test method covers the determination of total bromine number in various double-bonded aliphatic compounds, using pyridine sulfate dibromide (PSDB), also known as Rosenmund-Kuhnhenn reagent. The total unsaturation is determined, whether conjugated or not. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific precautionary statements are given in Section 7 and in paragraphs 5.1.1, 6.4.1, 6.7.1, and 8.1.
