The 48-6554-11 is a Universal Zero-Insertion-Force DIP Test Socket designed for ICs and transistors. It accommodates devices with pin centers ranging from 0.300 to 0.600 inches and is compatible with various pin counts. The socket features normally-closed contacts to ensure reliable contact integrity without relying on plastic components. It can be soldered directly onto PCBs or plugged into other sockets or receptacles. Constructed from black UL 94V-0 glass-filled Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) for the socket body and stainless steel for the handle, it offers durability and resistance to high temperatures. The contacts are made from BeCu or Spinodal Alloy, with multiple plating options available, including nickel, tin, and gold. The socket has a contact current rating of 1 amp, insulation resistance of 1000 MOc minimum, and a dielectric withstand voltage of 1000 VAC. It supports a wide operating temperature range from -85¬8F to 221¬8F and has a lifecycle of 25,000 to 50,000 cycles. The retention force is rated at 55g per pin, accommodating lead dimensions of 0.015 to 0.045 inches wide and 0.110 to 0.280 inches long.
