The 40-6552-10 is a Universal Zero-Insertion-Force DIP Test Socket designed for ICs and transistors. It accommodates devices with pin centers ranging from 0.300 to 0.600 inches and can be mounted on PCBs or plugged into various sockets. The socket features normally-closed contacts to ensure reliable contact integrity without relying on plastic components. It is constructed from black UL 94V-0 glass-filled Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) for the body, with a stainless steel handle and brass knob. The contacts are made from BeCu or Spinodal Alloy, with various plating options available, including nickel underplating and tin or gold overplating. The socket supports a contact current rating of 1 amp, with an insulation resistance of at least 1000 MOc and a dielectric withstand voltage of 1000 VAC. It has a lifecycle rating of 25,000 to 50,000 cycles and operates within a temperature range of -85¬8F to 221¬8F. The retention force is rated at 55g per pin for leads measuring between 0.015 to 0.045 inches wide and 0.110 to 0.280 inches long.
