Human Preadipocyte factor-1 (Pref-1) control/blocking peptide # 1
General Information
Preadipocyte factor-1 (Pref-1), an epidermal growth factor-like domain-containing transmembrane protein is implicated in inhibiting preadipocytes differentiation. Pref-1 (mouse 385-aa, rat 383-aa, human 383-aa, chromosome 14q32), also known as fetal anti
SugApplications
Control or blocking peptides are recommended for ELISA plate coating for direct ELISA testing of antibodies or competitive ELISA, and antibody blocking or neutralization.
SpeciesReactivity
Human
Form
Antigen/blocking Peptide
Antigen
13-aa peptide of human Pref-1DLK1 (protein accession #P80370, refs 1) ; Designated (PREF11-P or control peptide) conjugated to KLH; ~N-terminus, extracellular
SpCrossreactivity
Human PREF11-P sequence is 84% conserved in bovine, pig, 69% in mouse and 76% in rat Pref-1. Since the epitope of PREF11-S antibody is located near the extracellular N-terminus, this antibody will detect both the membrane and soluble forms of Pref-1. Antibody cross-reactivity in various species has not been studied. Control peptide, because of its low mol. Wt (<3 kDa), is not suitable for Western. It should be used for ELISA or antibody blocking experiments (use 5-10 ug control peptide per 1 ug of aff pure IgG or 1 ul antiserum) to confirm antibody specificity
