Rat Aquaporin 4 (AQP4) Control/blocking peptide #1
General Information
AQP4 (MIWC, mercury-insensitive water channel; 301 AA; gene locus 18q22) is expressed in brain and in other tissues as well. FUNCTION: Forms a water-specific channel. Osmoreceptor which regulates body water balance and mediates water flow within the cen
SugApplications
Control or blocking peptides are recommended for ELISA plate coating for direct ELISA testing of antibodies or competitive ELISA, and antibody blocking or neutralization.
SpeciesReactivity

Form
Antigen/blocking Peptide
Antigen
17-aa peptide of Rat AQP4 ; (Gene Accession #P47863 Designated (AQP41-P or control peptide (1); Designation (#AQP41-P, control/blocking peptide) conjugated to KLH; epitope location ~ C-terminus
SpCrossreactivity
Rat AQP41-P peptide is 94% conserved in mouse, 88% in bovine, 86% in rabbit and 82 % in human AQP4 (hAQP4. It has no significant sequence homology with other AQPs or any other known proteins. The control peptide, because of its low mol. Wt (<3 kDa), is not suitable for Western. It should be used for ELISA or antibody blocking experiments (use 5-10 ug control peptide per 1 ug of aff pure IgG or 1 ul antiserum) to confirm antibody specificity
