A.G. Scientific, Inc. Cefsulodin, Sodium Salt C-1457

Description
Cefsulodin Sodium Salt is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Utilized in mIcrobiology with CIN ( Cefsulodin-Irgasan-N ovobiocin) Agar is used for the selective isolation of Yersinia enterocolitic. Also Cefsulodin chocolate blood agar is a selective medium for the recovery of Haemophilus influenzae from the respiratory secretions of patients with cystric fibrosis. CIN agar was first described by Schiemann as an alternative to MacConkey Agar and other commonly used media for isolation of Yersinia enterocolitica, a causative agent of gasteroenteritis. CIN Agar has been found to be far superior to MacConkey, SS, CAL or Y agars. Fermentation of mannitol in the presence of neutral red results in a characteristic bulle-eye colonyss with red centers. Selective inhibition of gram-negitive & gram -positive organisms is obtained by means of crystal violet, sodium desoxycholate and the antimicrobial agents, cefsulodin, Irgasan & Novobiocin. The Cefsulodin method has become popular for mesuring total coliforms and E.coli samples in water samples utilizing a membrane filtration detection technique1 . Call A.G. Scientific for kilo & multiple kilo bulk quotations. 1.EPA Method 1604 , U.S. EPA ; Office of Water, Washington DC.EPA 821-R-02-024
